October 2016 saw the first ever Groundwork event, held at “La Chateau de Gressoux” in the Franche-Comtéregion of France. The event was a meeting, and indeed a ‘thank you’ to those that helped and still work to build Bombtrack into the brand it is today. From across Europe we brought together team riders, ambassadors, distributors, shops and “family” members. These kind of events don’t happen often enough, but when they do it’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by, and ride bikes with such incredible people.
In September 2017 the second edition took place. This time we swapped rural France for something a little more closer to home, actually so close to home it was only a stone’s throw from our office in Cologne. The half-timbered and former manor house named „Landgut Breibach“ was our base for heading out into the surrounding landscape we know so well, called “Bergisches Land”.
When originally conceiving our Groundwork event for the first time, our intention was to keep the riding as the focal point, and spread over a few days so we can catch up, talking bikes with like-minded friends consisting of teamriders, freelancing contributors, distributors, long time supporting shops and befriended media. So it has been at every Groundwork edition until today.
After another session in 2018 and 2019 held in the same place, we invited for another area in front of our gates in 2020. We moved to a playground south of Cologne (instead of east), the Eifel. Another perfect area to ride and discuss all our latest developments and future plans with our team and riders. But despite that rather intimate event the public can experience what’s happening on spot by following #bombtrackgroundwork at Instagram. Often a very first opportunity to get a first glimpse of new bike models before the season is kicking off.
