Our Story
Cologne, 2011.
While the big bicycle brands are still debating what riders might want, a small team from Cologne is already building the bikes that will define a whole generation of adventurers.
The team comes from the world of WeMakeThings, the Cologne home of the legendary BMX brand WeThePeople. From this world they bring their most important material: 4130 CrMo steel, double-butted, heat-treated, indestructible. The DNA of Bombtrack. A material that tells no lies.
With the vision of a BMX rider, Bombtrack developed its first product range, which was launched in 2012. In 2014, the Hook bike appears, built for adventures for which the word "gravel" does not even exist yet. Bombtrack is among the first to bring complete gravel bikes to market. While the big brands come later, Bombtrack is already there, and already riding.
Behind Bombtrack are people who understand bikes from very different angles. Marcellus Putschli brings the technical side: mechanical engineering, product development, and a deep understanding of how a bike should work in the real world. Manuel Schuerholz brings the cultural side: music, community, events, and the ability to bring people together around a shared way of life.
This mix has shaped Bombtrack from the beginning. The bikes are not created from market research alone, but from real riding, real conversations, and real encounters. Events like Groundwork, long-distance adventures, cyclocross races, and bikepacking journeys have all become part of the brand’s development process.
Since 2017, Bombtrack has sponsored the NRW-Cross-Cup, one of the most vibrant cyclocross race series in North Rhine-Westphalia, from kids to elite. At the Tuscany Trail, the world's largest bikepacking event, Bombtrack has been there as a sponsor and with its own team since the early days. Bikes are born from real encounters, not from market research.
Sofiane Sehili. Adrien Liechti. Gaëlle Bojko. Clotaire Mandel. Samer Abouhamad. Marc Maurer. Gosse van der Meer. Sophie Potter. Federico Cabrera. Andy Cox. Lorenz Eimansberger. They do not just ride for Bombtrack. They live with it. From the streets of Cologne to Siberia, from the Scottish Highlands to the Australian Outback. These are not athletes chasing podiums. They are riders who move through the world on two wheels, for weeks, driven by curiosity and the next horizon. And they come back. Always on a Bombtrack.
With Seido, an independent component brand has emerged that is known far beyond Bombtrack. The MGV fork in particular and a well-crafted cockpit range have given Seido its own name in the bikepacking world. Seido stands for the same values as Bombtrack: precision, function, no nonsense.
Where is Bombtrack headed? Staying true to ourselves and inspiring even more people to discover the adventure of cycling. Because that has always been the driving force. Not the market. Not the trend. The passion.
No Attitude. Just Ride.
