Heading south: a ride to remember Iohan Gueorguiev

“I WANT TO SEE THE WORLD
FOLLOW A MAP TO IT’S EDGES AND KEEP GOING
FORGO THE PLANS. TRUST MY INSTINCTS.
LET CURIOSITY BE MY GUIDE
I WANT TO CHANGE HEMISPHERE
SLEEP WITH UNFAMILIAR STARS
AND LET THE JOURNEY UNFOLD BEFORE ME”

Iohan Gueorguiev (1988 - 2021)

Despite his abrupt death in August 2021, longtime bike tourer Iohan Gueorguiev from Bulgaria / Canada is still an inspiration to many bikepackers out there. And will probably be forever, as he has ever been to Federico Cabrera. Shocked by the loss Fede decided to tribute a ride to him. 6 months after the notification of Iohan’s passing had made its round last year, Fede hit the road. The ride would resemble a kind of finish to Iohan’s originally planned trip, in which Fede set out to bring Iohan's licensing plate, expedition bar and packraft to his planned but never reached final destination of Ushuaia / Tierra del Fuego.
